This is no fools joke it really is true, Tesla have really launched a £25k all electric car. OK so it’s taken 10 years for Elon Musk to realise the goal of making an affordable everyday electric car but here it is and this is what we know so far. Tesla launched the Model 3 at its design HQ a few hours ago and this more affordable car is designed to give Tesla a broader consumer base than its current offerings.
Taking its styling cues from other Tesla models the new Tesla 3 is a premium five door saloon. Its all electric don’t you know with a range per charge of 215miles.
Tesla haven’t revealed too much in terms of model specs but have hinted at performance variants at a future date. In the meantime the launch vehicle will do the 0-62mph time in under 6 seconds.
Tesla also say the that the 3 will offer 5 star safety ratings. But you are going to have to wait if you want buy one now, the Model 3 should be available to order by the end of April 2017.
However Tesla are taking pre-0rders and you can get into the cue by putting down a $1000 dollar deposit. Just vist the Tesla website.
A few hours after the launch around 130,000 pre-orders were registered.
The roof of the Model 3 features one continuous plane of glass, standard features include a 15 inch touch screen and semi-autonomous driving functionality.
Production will be based in Freemont, California. Tesla are putting the future sustainability of the company on the Model 3.
The success of the Model 3 will enable Tesla to grow, it represents literally billions of dollars worth of investment and the founder, Elon Musk, is taking a huge gamble.
